Heavy Duty Tarps Are Versatile
64Everywhere you look there are tarps being used to protect merchandise and equipment that is being stored out in the weather or transported. Heavy duty tarps are only as valuable as the strength of their construction. Heavy thread shafts and high mesh counts define the strength of a tarp and reveal the tarp’s capabilities and limitations to the consumer. Just having a certain thickness measure or denier does not guarantee the strength of a tarp. When protecting objects in the outdoors for very long periods, a tarp must have a strong ultra-violet resistant coating. Whatever your need there is a tarp for your job, including: vinyl, super heavy, and waterproof tarps.
Heavy duty vinyl tarps are commonly used in construction, roofing, trucking, and recreational applications because this material is easy to use and very durable. The vinyl seams at every edge are heat sealed with grommets about every two feet. Most vinyl tarps are resistant to ultra-violet light which keeps them from cracking after extended use in the sunshine. Vinyl is waterproof and sheds water in very hard rains. Extensive color selection makes the vinyl tarp one of the most noticeable in the industry.
Super heavy duty tarps are used for large applications like covering athletic fields, including baseball fields. These tarps can weigh up to 1500 pounds and require special delivery. Another use for this class of tarps on a much smaller scale is post hurricane and tornado coverage for extensively damaged homes and other structures. Resistance to rain and wind makes this ultra-heavy tarp perfect for roof coverage until repairs are completed.
Waterproof heavy duty tarps shed water and are not simply water-resistant. These workhorses are used for permanent outdoor applications like rain protection roofs over stadium stands, covering haystacks and wood piles, and concert stage roofs. Because of the value of what is being protected (people, merchandise, and equipment) these tarps cannot fail even once.
All of these varieties of tarps are secured with heavy duty rubber tarp straps which hold the tarp in place by the grommets or lay across the tarp without causing tears. The straps come in a variety of lengths and strengths to hold the tarp firmly in place whether it is on a truck, a stack, or a house. Designed to give just a little, these straps will not break under force, but will allow removal when it is time to take the tarp off.
A general or specialized tarp is available for any application you have to address. When shopping for tarps, look at many suppliers and read the reviews, and you will find the best tarp for your need, and it will last for years.
